Thanks to a go-ahead fadeaway jumper from Chris Bosh with 31.1 seconds remaining in regulation, the Miami Heat defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 94-93, Sunday night.
With the clock winding down and a chance to win the game, Kemba Walker missed a jump shot and Al Jefferson's tip-in rimmed out as time expired.
The Heat (8-6) have now won back-to-back games while Charlotte (4-10) has lost five straight.
Luol Deng paced the heat behind 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting, 19 of which came in the first half. Deng's 19 first-half points matched the highest single-half point total for any Heat player this season.
Bosh tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds, good for his sixth double-double of the season, while Mario Chalmers chipped in 20 points and 10 assists. Nine of Chalmers' 20 points came at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
Shabazz Napier added 14 points (4-of-9 shooting), all of which came from beyond the arc. His four conversions from three represented a new career-high.
As a team, Miami shot 50 percent from the field and 48 percent from three.
Jefferson led the way for Charlotte behind 22 points and 12 rebounds, marking the ninth time in 12 games that he scored at least 20 points, according to Hornets PR on Twitter.
Lance Stephenson was steady, totaling 17 points (7-of-14 shooting), six rebounds and five assists, but he knocked down just one of seven attempts from beyond the arc.
All told, five Hornets players finished in double figures, including Walker (16 points), Cody Zeller (11 points) and Gary Neal (13 points).
Charlotte shot 47 percent from the field and 33 percent from three in the loss.
Miami will look to capture its third straight when Tuesday at home against the Golden State Warriors while Charlotte will attempt to snap its losing streak Monday against the Clippers.
