NFL Power Rankings: Week 12 Standings Based on Latest Super Bowl Odds

Sean ODonnellNov 19, 2014

How wild was Week 11 of the NFL season? The St. Louis Rams blew the doors off the Denver Broncos, the Cincinnati Bengals gave the New Orleans Saints their second straight home loss, the Green Bay Packers put up over 50 points on the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots looked like the team to beat after bludgeoning the Indianapolis Colts.

Those outcomes led to many shifts in the league's hierarchy. They didn't just affect the NFL's power rankings heading into Week 12, they also affected the latest Super Bowl odds for some top contenders. So here's the burning question: Where did your team wind up?

Power Rankings

32. Oakland Raiders

Here's the question: Will the Raiders win a game this season? With remaining contests against the Kansas City Chiefs (twice), St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos, well, let's just say it's highly unlikely. It's time to enjoy that No. 1 overall draft pick.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are coming off a bye week, but they're about to run straight into an angry Colts team looking for redemption after a brutal loss Sunday night. It seems likely this inexperienced team is poised to drop another game and remain as one of the league's least powerful teams.

30. Washington Redskins

Robert Griffin III played some terrible football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. However, that didn't stop him from throwing the entire team under the bus, via Yahoo Sports:

There can't be a good vibe in this locker room heading into a Week 12 clash with the San Francisco 49ers.

29. Tennessee Titans

Both Zach Mettenberger and Bishop Sankey had their moments against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, but until this defense can improve in dramatic fashion—Le'Veon Bell rushed for 204 yards—this team will continue to drop games.

28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Josh McCown looked much better in the Buccaneers' win over Washington Sunday. Mike Evans appears to be one of the league's next great wide receivers. Unfortunately, there aren't too many other bright spots on this team to note.

27. New York Jets

The Jets are coming off a bye week after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. Pittsburgh has been a wildly inconsistent team this season, so we'll find out if the Jets have actually made strides in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills. Although, quarterback Michael Vick apparently wants to stay in New York for the long haul, via Bleacher Report:

26. New York Giants

You can't win games when your quarterback throws five interceptions. You can't win games when your running backs average 3.1 yards per carry. The Giants have found different ways to lose games throughout the season. Let's see what they cook up in Week 12 against the Dallas Cowboys.

25. Carolina Panthers

Carolina's defense played better against the Atlanta Falcons, and Kelvin Benjamin continues to impress on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, not much else is going right for a Panthers team that is slowly slipping out of contention in an awful NFC South.

24. Minnesota Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater continues to go through some rookie growing pains, and the team's offense is suffering as a result. With Aaron Rodgers and the Packers coming to town in Week 12, things don't appear to be getting any easier.

23. St. Louis Rams

Is anyone else already wondering which Rams team will show up this Sunday? This Two-Face of the NFL is highly unpredictable, but if the Rams can muster up another solid performance, they can defeat an injury-plagued San Diego Chargers team.

22. Chicago Bears

Jay Cutler threw a couple more interceptions in Week 11, but he also managed to find wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall (twice) in the end zone. That's a step in the right direction, and the Bears need to keep that momentum going against former coach Lovie Smith and the Buccaneers.

21. New Orleans Saints

The Saints have been given every opportunity to pull away from their division rivals. However, after falling to the Bengals on Sunday, New Orleans suddenly fell behind the Falcons in the race for the NFC South. Although, maybe the loss was good news, as ESPN's Trey Wingo looks on the bright side:

Drew Brees will have to right the ship quickly Monday night against a Baltimore Ravens team coming off a bye week.

20. Buffalo Bills

It's really difficult to dissect the Bills. They aren't a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, and their defense is quite good. However, they are several cards short of a full deck and need some personnel upgrades to take a step forward.

19. Houston Texans

Ryan Mallett's first-career start went along nicely. He threw for two touchdown passes and was complemented well by Alfred Blue out of the backfield in the Texans' victory over the Cleveland Browns. We'll see if they can repeat that performance against the other Ohio team in Week 12.

18. Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta is no longer the flashy, air-it-out team it used to be. Matt Ryan is still one of the league's best quarterbacks, and he has a nice duo of wide receivers. But without proper protection, the offense lacks explosive plays. Somehow, that's still good enough for fist place in the division.

17. San Diego Chargers

The Chargers came off their bye week looking to make a statement after several tough losses. While the defense played better, holding the Raiders to just six points in a win, the offense didn't make any kind of a statement, scoring just 13 points.

16. Cleveland Browns

Cleveland collapsed as a team against the Texans in Week 11. The Browns couldn't stop the run, Brian Hoyer couldn't hit the ocean from the beach and the team lost big. Josh Gordon returns in Week 12, according to NFL on ESPN:

The Browns really need him to step up immediately.

15. Seattle Seahawks

What happened to Seattle's run defense? This team was gashed by Jamaal Charles in Week 11, leading to yet another loss for the Seahawks. If Seattle can't find a way to put it all together soon, the reigning Super Bowl champions won't even see the playoffs this time around.

14. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens spent the bye week watching the Bengals and Steelers notch big wins. Hopefully Joe Flacco and Co. made some great adjustments, because Baltimore has the tough task of trying to hand the Saints their third consecutive home loss Monday.

13. Miami Dolphins

Miami's defense continues to play very well, and it will need to keep up that trend against the Broncos in Week 12. Ryan Tannehill has been efficient lately, and some extra time to prepare following Thursday Night Football will go a long way before contending with the AFC's elite.

12. San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco is a confusing team. Despite its bread and butter coming in a ground-and-pound style of football, the 49ers continue to air it out. Colin Kaepernick hasn't been good lately, and that's a big reason why the Giants hung around in Week 11 despite Manning throwing five interceptions.

11. Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh was given a scare against an inferior Titans team Monday night, but this veteran team was able to pull out the victory. The Steelers have a well-timed bye week coming up, and that will be huge as this team attempts to get healthy for the final stretch of the regular season.

10. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals control the AFC North after a huge win over the Saints. Andy Dalton stepped up after a horrible showing one week prior, and Jeremy Hill continues to be as advertised out of the backfield. A win Sunday at Houston puts this team in great position for a playoff spot.

9. Indianapolis Colts

Not only did the Colts suffer a terrible defeat at the hands of the Patriots, but they lost running back Ahmad Bradshaw for the season, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports:

Trent Richardson isn't good enough to handle the workload out of the backfield, so even more pressure will be applied to quarterback Andrew Luck going forward.

8. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are a good team, but they proved they aren't among the NFC's elite in Week 11. This team's three losses this year have come to the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers—some of the conference's best. Philadelphia is a playoff-caliber team, but it will have a tough time going the distance.

7. Detroit Lions

It's not surprising the Lions held the Cardinals to 14 points Sunday. However, it's very surprising they could muster only six points of their own. Matthew Stafford couldn't handle Arizona's secondary, and that's a bad sign with the Patriots next on the slate.

6. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs continue to impress each and every week. Riding a five-game winning streak that included victories over the Chargers and Seahawks, Kansas City is very much for real and gets a favorable matchup against the Raiders in Week 12.

5. Denver Broncos

Denver had an enormous collapse against the Rams. Yes, the team sustained several injuries, but finishing with just seven points isn't acceptable for this offense. Julius Thomas' injury isn't overly bad, and Emmanuel Sanders suffered a concussion. Still, both will be iffy for Week 12. We'll see if Peyton Manning can regroup.

4. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are coming off a bye week, and Tony Romo received some much-needed rest. This offense has been one of the league's best when the quarterback is healthy, and Dallas is poised to do some major damage down the stretch.

3. Green Bay Packers

There may not be an offense as potent as the Packers right now. Rodgers continues his lights-out play, throwing numerous touchdowns while maintaining great ball security. He's thrown 28 scores against just three picks this season. In fact, Rodgers is laughing opponents off the field, literally, according to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com:

2. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals notched a big win with Drew Stanton at the helm, maintaining their league-best record. While Stanton played well for the most part, his accuracy issues continued, as he thew two terrible interceptions. He'll be tested once again in Seattle in Week 12.

1. New England Patriots

New England is firing on all cylinders at the right time. This team is riding a six-game winning streak, putting up less than 37 points in just one contest over that span. Tom Brady has his full arsenal of weapons, and Darrell Revis and Co. complete the ensemble with a viable defense. There are plenty of reasons to consider the Patriots Super Bowl favorites right now.
