The 2014-15 college basketball season is less than a week old, and it's already produced an incredible finish. The Miami Hurricanes' Angel Rodriguez hit a three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining in what was a 69-67 upset victory over the No. 8 Florida Gators.

Florida held a 33-21 halftime advantage, but Miami, spurred on by the senior guard, blitzed the Gators in the second half. Rodriguez talked about his team's improvement after the break, per Erica A. Hernandez of The Independent Florida Alligator:
Gators head coach Billy Donovan refused to get too down after the loss, citing the amount of players missing from his team as having a serious impact, per Mark Long of The Associated Press:
The biggest absence was that of Dorian Finney-Smith, who's suffering from a hairline fracture in his left hand, per ESPN.com's Andy Katz and The Associated Press. The junior forward is expected to play a major role for Florida this year, so the team's much worse without him.

For Miami, this game can be a massive springboard.
Rodriguez, formerly of Kansas State, is one of a few players who transferred to Miami. Bleacher Report's C.J. Moore believes that this win helps strengthen the idea that a couple of key transfers can help bring a school instant success:
CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein wonders what this win will do for the 'Canes going forward. They made a massive statement in Gainesville:
At the very least, Miami will likely have a place in the Top 25 when the next batch of polls is revealed. Few expect the Hurricanes to compete for the ACC regular-season title, but that could change if Monday night is any indicator of the team's strength.
