Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today reported on Marco Belinelli's status for Thursday's game vs. Houston:

Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News added more details on a potential timetable for his return:

Original Text

San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Marco Belinelli left the team's matchup with the Atlanta Hawks due to a groin injury.

The team's official Twitter account passed along the latest on the guard:

Asked to step up early in the year with Kawhi Leonard missing time, Belinelli was a key contributor during the first two games. Averaging 12.0 points and 2.5 assists per game, the Italian player has been more than just a key reserve.

HOUSTON, TX - OCTOBER 24: Marco Belinelli #3 of the San Antonio Spurs drives with the ball against Trevor Ariza #1 of the Houston Rockets during their preseason game at Toyota Center on October 24, 2014 in Houston, Texas NOTE TO USER: User expressly ackn

Luckily, the Spurs have plenty of other offensive weapons who can step up in his place. With the likes of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker still leading the team, the defending champions can likely continue to thrive without Belinelli.

In a tough Western Conference, having every piece on the floor is critical. Going on the road to take on an undefeated Houston Rockets team on Thursday night, not having Belinelli in the lineup would certainly hurt the team's depth against a strong team.
