Rusev Defeats Sheamus to Capture WWE United States Championship
Rusev didn't stop with beating Jack Swagger, Mark Henry and The Big Show. The "Bulgarian Brute" is now the champion of the entire United States after defeating Sheamus on Monday night.
The two fought in a match that aired on the WWE Network:
Rusev locked Sheamus in The Accolade. "The Celtic Warrior" never tapped out. The referee eventually called for the bell:
WWE posted a photo on Instagram of the new United States champion posing with his newly won title:
According to WWE's Kyle Edwards, Rusev is the second U.S. champion affiliated with Russia dating back to the title's days in NWA/WCW:
"Rusev is now the second ever US champion of Russian alignment; the first was Nikita Koloff in 1986. #WWENetwork #FreeFreeFree

WWE used the title match in order to hype up the WWE Network and entice non-subscribers to subscribe. Bleacher Report's Jonathan Snowden felt the match was a great advertisement for the service:
"I don't want to get carried away, but Rusev and Sheamus had a great match on the @WWENetwork. $9.99! Order it jerks! pic.twitter.com/Un2xl2FULK

This is unlikely to be the last meeting between Sheamus and Rusev. The two are good workers in the ring and can put together an entertaining and captivating match.
With Survivor Series approaching in a few weeks, their rivalry will likely spill over onto the highly anticipated pay-per-view.
