Eagles OT Jason Peters Had No Idea That Mark Sanchez Replaced Injured Nick Foles
Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters doesn't need to know who is in at quarterback. The veteran just knows he has a job to do, so he focuses on doing it to the best of his ability.
Take Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, for example. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles left the game late in the first quarter with a broken collarbone, per CSNPhilly.com's Derrick Gunn. The injury forced backup Mark Sanchez into the game.
Apparently, Peters didn't notice anything different when the Eagles took the field on their next drive.

Philadelphia didn't hold back on its first play with Sanchez in the game—he connected with receiver Jeremy Maclin for a 52-yard gain, although Maclin picked up a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
After the pass was completed, Peters was in for a pretty big surprise. Per Dave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, Peters said it wasn't until that moment that he realized Sanchez was in the game:
"I didn't even know Foles was out. He threw that bomb to Maclin, I turned around to congratulate him and it was Sanchez. I didn't even know the guy was out until I started looking for him and he had went in for X-rays. For him to step in for Foles, it was big time.
"
It seems pretty hard to believe that an offensive lineman wouldn't know who he was protecting. However, it appears the Eagles' 32-year-old tackle was completely oblivious to what was going on with his team.
Offensive linemen don't necessarily need to know who they are protecting. They have a job to do regardless of who is behind them, but it is hard to fathom how a lineman does not know who is playing quarterback on every play.
Luckily for Philadelphia, the injury to its starting quarterback didn't keep it from winning the game. Sanchez led the Eagles to a 31-21 victory by throwing for 202 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
