Beverley Set to Return vs. Thunder

Kevin McHale updated Patrick Beverley's status prior to Houston's game vs. Oklahoma City, via Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle:

Sunday, Nov. 1

The Houston Rockets are off to a fine start to the 2014-15 season, winning their first two games in convincing fashion. However, they will have to be careful not to suffer a letdown against a rebuilding Boston Celtics squad on Sunday night, as they stand to play without one of their key starters.

According to the team's official Twitter account, Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley will miss Sunday night's contest against the Celtics with a hamstring injury:

The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn noted Isaiah Canaan will get the start in place of Beverley:

Beverley is averaging eight points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds through two games this season. He apparently injured the muscle in the Rockets' 104-93 win over the Utah Jazz. Beverley is a high-energy player known for his rabid commitment to on-the-ball defense.

Boston point guard Rajon Rondo was quite effective in his season debut against the Brooklyn Nets, putting up 13 points and 12 assists. Without Beverley on the hardwood, Rondo could be all set for another big night. It will be up to the likes of Canaan and an aging Jason Terry to cover Rondo and prevent him from cracking open the Rockets' defense.
