Spurs vs. Rockets: Live Score and Highlights from 2014 NBA Preseason

Behind 25 points from James Harden and 18 points from Isaiah Canaan, the Houston Rockets defeated the San Antonio Spurs 96-87 in the teams' preseason finale Friday night. 

After scoring five points in the first half, Harden exploded for 20 points during a third quarter in which the Spurs actually outscored the Rockets by three. 

Although Houston led by as many as 18 in the third, the Spurs cut the deficit to two with just under two minutes to play.

However, Canaan answered the call, scoring 10 points in the final frame (including two threes in the final 70 seconds) to lead Houston to its sixth win of the preseason. 

Terrence Jones and Trevor Ariza tallied 11 points apiece and Jones led all players with 13 rebounds. 

With the loss, the Spurs concluded their exhibition slate with a record of 2-5. 

Marco Belinelli led San Antonio with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-5 from three) while Tony Parker scored eight points and recorded a game-high 10 assists. 

Danny Green added 14 points and Tim Duncan posted a double-double consisting of 11 points and 10 rebounds. 

As a team, the Spurs shot just 41 percent from the field and 31 percent from three. Houston was only marginally better from the floor (42 percent), but knocked down a staggering 43 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc. 

The Spurs and Rockets will both kick off their regular seasons Tuesday evening. San Antonio will host the Dallas Mavericks at 8 p.m. ET while Houston is slated to travel to Hollywood for a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 p.m. ET. 

Both games can be seen on TNT.
