Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams' Post-Week 6 Fantasy Outlook

Chris RolingOct 12, 2014

The Dallas Cowboys did the unthinkable Sunday and took down the Seattle Seahawks at home thanks to some late-game heroics from Tony Romo and intriguing fantasy production from wideouts Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams.

As expected, Romo's numbers were a bit down from the weeks prior in which he scored 24 and 18 fantasy points, but the final line is impressive all the same given the circumstances:

For Bryant, failing to score more than Williams is nothing short of a disappointment:

While this may not seem all that horrible in Seattle of all places, it is important to understand that the Seahawks entered Sunday ranking right in the middle of the league in terms of points surrendered to wideouts on averagenot exactly what owners would expect given the hype surrounding the Seattle secondary.

For Bryant owners, the opportunity wasted on a team-high 10 targets breaks a string of four consecutive outings in double digits, but it changes little in the grand scheme of things as a surefire matchup-proof option.

On Bryant's brief encounters with the best corner in the game, he was a clear producer, as illustrated by Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com:

Many will continue to ride the touchdown train that is Williams, and rightfully so—he has five touchdowns in six games this season. But touchdown-based production is a dangerous way to live, and in a run-heavy scheme, he will never be a volume-based target, as the target distribution in Seattle shows.

Romo owners know the deal. He has now scored in double digits in five straight games despite a run-heavy attack. As long as the line keeps his jersey clean, the production will be there.

It certainly does not hurt that two of Romo's next three opponents rank among the teams that surrender the fifth-most points to quarterbacks on average, with Washington coming in dead last.

Over the course of the remaining schedule, Bryant remains a WR1, while Williams is a high-upside WR3 based on matchup alone:

14@Chi26 (23.2)
15@Phi32 (27.8)
16Ind2 (12.4)
17@Wsh17 (21.6)

This obviously means that things will be thin for Williams over the course of the next few weeks. Come playoff time, though, there is no reason to hesitate with the lineup decisions for either wideout, as both should feast on a superb slate that is sure to birth great production for both.

In short, the Dallas offense that favors back DeMarco Murray continues to produce plenty of fantasy points for those who invested in options such as the three detailed above.

As expected, the two well-known names continue to be safe options each week, while Williams is a nice surprise that will erupt in the right matchup. Act accordingly in the coming weeks.
