Jonathan Dwyer Moved to Reserve List Following Domestic Violence Arrest
Updates from Friday, Sept. 19
Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com provides an update on Dwyer's long-term status with the team, courtesy of head coach Bruce Arians:
"Running back Jonathan Dwyer is not allowed to return to the Arizona Cardinals this season, and his long-term future with the team is in doubt unless he's exonerated from assault charges in a domestic violence incident involving his wife and young son, coach Bruce Arians said.
"We'll allow the court systems to take care of what is true and what isn't true," Arians said. "As far as up until then, until he's exonerated, he will not be a member of this football team.
"If and when he is exonerated, I will gladly take him back."

Arians also talked about his reaction to the charges, per Weinfuss:
"Arians said he was "truly floored" by the allegations against Dwyer, whom he coached in Pittsburgh in 2010 and '11. He wasn't the only one. The general reaction from the Cardinals' locker room Thursday was shock. Teammates described Dwyer, 25, as "soft spoken," "a good guy," "a great teammate" and "a joy to have in the room."
"For me personally, I was totally shocked because I've known Jon a long time," Arians said. "It was totally out of character from what I've known."

The Arizona Cardinals have placed Jonathan Dwyer on the reserve/non-football illness list following his arrest Wednesday in a domestic violence case.
The move was reported Thursday by Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com, along with the announcement that Jalen Parmele has been brought back on the active roster. Arizona also tweeted the report:
Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports shared more on the rationale behind the move:
Dwyer was arrested for two incidents involving an 18-month-old child and a 27-year-old woman in Phoenix on July 21 and July 22, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com noted more on Dwyer's status:
The fallout for Dwyer comes during a troubling time for the NFL.
Ray Rice is currently indefinitely suspended for domestic violence. Meanwhile, Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy were both placed on the exempt commissioner’s permission list in light of their respective charges for child abuse and domestic violence.
Arizona also announced it has cut running back Chris Rainey from the practice squad. Bart Hubbuch of the The New York Post pointed out why that move might have taken place:
"Kudos to the Cardinals for realizing that replacing Jonathan Dwyer with noted woman abuser Chris Rainey wouldn't have looked too good.

Dwyer, 25, was charged with "one count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage, one count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault," per Weinfuss.
He is required to wear an electronic monitoring device after being released on a $25,000 cash bond Thursday.
