"“He’s done a pretty decent job, but he’s still not quite there yet,” Gruden said of Reed’s effort in rehab. “He’s making great progress. We’re all anxiously awaiting his return and hopefully it will be Sunday.”
“The most important thing is to make sure he feels good about his hamstring so he can really run,” Gruden said. “We don’t want a 50-percent Jordan Reed. We need a 100-percent Jordan Reed.”
"
Gruden said the medical staff will evaluate Reed after Saturday’s jog-through and again after pre-game warm-ups.

Rich Tandler of CSNWashington.com provided a statement from Redskins head coach Jay Gruden discussing Jordan Reed's recovery:
"'It’s just the dang hamstring. It’s one of the most difficult injuries to guess upon and try to predict because you push him out there too quick, he’ll reinjure it. But right now, he’s not doing anything. He’s just working with the trainers as far as doing some rehab in there and hopefully tomorrow he’ll go out there and do some more individual work and then see where he’s at.'
[...]
"
Tandler also provided a statement from Gruden discussing whether or not Reed should be considered injury prone:
"'Well, it’s a totally different injury and you have to take every injury for what it is. It's something different and the plan varies based on the injury, whether it's the knee, neck, shoulder . . . Hamstrings are totally different than you'd rehab a knee or concussion or what have you. So, we just have to take every injury into its own account and rehab him and get him right 100 percent. I don’t know when that'll be, though.'
"

Original Text
Jordan Reed just can't catch a break. After coming into the 2014 NFL season with a thumb injury that had his status for Week 1 in question—and concussion issues that ended his season a year ago—the tight end had to leave Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.
Washington's official Twitter account has the news:
Reed was later downgraded to out later in the game:
Following the game, Reed spoke about his injured hamstring (via Mike Jones of The Washington Post):
Reed busted out late last season, finishing the year with 45 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns. He became a household name after a huge performance against the Chicago Bears in October, catching nine passes for 134 yards and a score.
Injuries have become a concern for the player, however, especially now that he is dealing with both thumb and hamstring concerns. With Robert Griffin III adjusting to a new offense and struggling in the preseason, it was expected that Reed would be a reliable safety valve for the young quarterback.
If he can stay on the field, he'll be just that. But for now, Reed's status remains up in the air, both in the short term and for the future if he continues to be injury prone.
