Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman provides an update on Reggie Jackson's status:

Original Text:

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without the services of Reggie Jackson when they take on the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman reported Jackson has a mid-back sprain and is listed as day-to-day:

The 23-year-old has become a key cog in the OKC setup. His minutes have doubled between since last year, thus bumping his averages from 5.3 points and 1.7 assists in 2012-13 to 13.3 points and 4.2 assists in 2013-14.

The Thunder should have no problem getting past the rather hapless Kings without Jackson, but looking beyond that game, a more serious injury could cause problems.

Oklahoma City is only two games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers and three games ahead of the Houston Rockets. It wouldn't want to slip in the standings and end up with a first-round matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers or Golden State Warriors.

Jackson provides great cover for Russell Westbrook, and his defending has been an invaluable asset. The Thunder will need him healthy if they want to get that elusive NBA title.
