NBA: Best Tweets from Golden State Warriors' Clash with Dallas Mavericks

Joshua J VannucciniJun 8, 2018

The Golden State Warriors' victory over the Dallas Mavericks didn't come as comfortably as they would've liked, but it was a victory nonetheless.

Golden State had a disappointing loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on December 9th and needed a win to get back on track. The Warriors got back into the game in the second half, outscoring the Mavs 51-38, and Stephen Curry did the rest.

Arguably the NBA's best shooter, Curry scored 16 points in the fourth quarter en route to the game-winning jumper for the Warriors. He finished with 33 points and 10 assists, with a plethora of highlight plays to bring his team back.

David Lee chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds, with Andrew Bogut having a monster game on the glass with 18 rebounds.

Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes combined to shoot just 9-of-30, with Curry making more field goals (13) than the duo combined.

Golden State shot just 43 percent total but kept Dallas to 42 percent shooting and just 36.8 percent in the second half. The Warriors overcame 18 turnovers (eight by Curry) with strong defensive play.

Golden State last faced Dallas on November 27th in a 103-99 loss. The Warriors mounted a similar comeback, only to see it fall short.

The Warriors are 4-2 through the month of December, with high hopes of returning to form after a disappointing 8-7 record last month. Golden State currently holds a 13-10 record, tied with the Mavericks for the eighth spot in the Western Conference.

The team is still without Andre Iguodala due to a hamstring injury, but will have to make do until he returns. Curry and Co. certainly have the talent to hold their own, but the conference they play in is extremely competitive.

The top 10 or 11 teams in the West could secure a playoff seed, with Golden State currently holding on to the last one. The Warriors could certainly move up higher, but it will need to come on the heels of more secure victories, despite the All-Star caliber brilliance of Curry.
