Josh Brown, You're on The Hot Seat!
by Jeff Stahlhut
There's nothing like a good interview with a good sport, and St. Louis Rams kicker Josh Brown is certainly that. Having been asked to submit just what I'd like to ask him if we were doing an interview today, the following questions (and follow-ups, of course) would definitely be included.
• After your years in Seattle, the jump to St. Louis was quick and, to many, surprising. What made you decide the time was right to move on, and what were the major factors in your decision?
• With a year under your belt with the Rams, what do you see as the team’s greatest strengths and where would you, if you were GM for a day, look to improve?
• What’s your favorite stadium in which to kick, and why?
• Everyone knows a good snap is key to a good PAT or FG attempt, but how important is the holder? And how difficult is it (if at all) for a kicker and holder to get in sync with one another?
• Lots of great college kickers never make it in the NFL, just as lots of great high school kickers never make it in college. Why is this? Is it as simple as the tee, or pressure, or something else?
• You’re a product of the University of Nebraska, playing in a town full of Mizzou fans. Who are, without a doubt, keenly aware of your history as a Cornhusker. Given the chance, would you show up at the Dome wearing a Nebraska hat (a la LeBron and his Yankees hat), if the Tigers and Cornhuskers were ever playing in St. Louis? Or would you be more diplomatic?
• You’ve just kicked off and you’re following the play down the field. Obviously the more quickly a tackle is made the better, but how much of you WANTS to be involved in a tackle? Do you look for it, or do you pray it never happens? Something in between?
• Prediction for the 2009 Rams?
