Another Jordan on the Way: Michael Jordan to Become a Father Again

Seven months after marrying Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, Michael Jordan is expecting a child. 

According to Stephanie Webber of Us Weekly (via Fox News), the newlyweds will be welcoming their first child into the world in 2014.

After five years of dating, Jordan, 50, and Prieto, 34, were married in Palm Beach, Fla., on April 27, 2013. The event was a lavish, who’s who affair, according to Us. The nuptials were held at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Church, and celebrity guests included Usher, Tiger Woods, Robin Thicke, Patrick Ewing and Spike Lee, among others.

The baby will be the couple’s first child, although fatherhood is old hat at this point for His Airness. Jordan and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, had three children over the course of their 17-year marriage. Their children are sons Jeffrey Michael, 25, Marcus James, 22, and daughter Jasmine Mickael, 20.

Jordan and Vanoy divorced in 2006, however, and the Chicago Bulls legend has lived with Prieto since 2009.

While described by most news outlets as a “model,” Prieto appears to have done most of her picture-taking with Jordan at her side. Doing a bit of math also yields the fact that Jordan’s bride was three years old when he and the North Carolina Tar Heels took home the 1982 NCAA championship.

As far as partners go, Prieto comes with high accolades. According to Chris Chase of USA Today, her former boyfriend, Julio Iglesias Jr., described her as a “fantastic girl,” as well as a “loving, simple and very good person.”

In case you were wondering, Iglesias Jr. is the older brother of Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias. Now that any and all Iglesias-related confusion has been settled, it must be said: Congratulations, Michael.

You’ve found yourself a good girl and have a baby on the way. May your fourth child be a masculine child—or a feminine one.

Honestly, I just hope the child sticks his or her tongue out while concentrating. That would be adorable.
