Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Detroit Lions are coming off a tough road victory last week, but they’ll continue their winning ways against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
The Pittsburgh defense, while not the force it used to be, is still a good unit against the pass. Detroit is an incredibly pass-happy offense, but it also has Reggie Bush and Joique Bell, who will do some serious damage in this game.
Pittsburgh was eviscerated by the New England Patriots two weeks ago, giving up 610 total yards of offense. The Lions match up in a similar way with a potent passing attack and some talented running backs.
Running backs have been a problem for the Steelers this season—they’re giving up 127 yards per game—so the success of Reggie Bush will be a decisive factor in this game.
In addition, the strength of the Lions defensive line will be another aspect that swings the game in Detroit’s favor. Pittsburgh has given up 36 sacks—second-most in the league—so the dominant duo of Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley will be able to exert their will on the game and hit Ben Roethlisberger.
The Steelers have bounced back from their terrible start to the season, and they’ll be able to keep the game close. In the end, however, the Lions offense will be too much for them to handle.
Prediction: Detroit Lions 30, Pittsburgh Steelers 24
San Diego Chargers at Miami Dolphins
The wheels have really come off the Miami Dolphins wagon in recent weeks. Their hot start to the season is a distant memory, and reality came crashing down when they handed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their first victory of the season.
The Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin saga has serious social and cultural implications for the NFL, but it also has a huge impact on the Dolphins when they take the field. They’re without two of their starting linemen, and it showed against the Bucs in Week 10.
Miami picked up a grand total of two yards on the ground, and its offense had absolutely no balance with Ryan Tannehill throwing the ball 42 times. It's only averaging 87 rushing yards per game, and that number is set to fall without two of the team's better linemen on the field.
On the flip side, the Dolphins are giving up 119 yards per game on the ground, and they’ve given up the eighth-most receptions to running backs according to FFToolbox.com—a dangerous sign when they’re facing Danny Woodhead.
Philip Rivers has flown under the radar this year—every quarterback not named Peyton Manning has—but he’s looked rejuvenated under new head coach Mike McCoy. The San Diego Chargers are picking up 289 yards per game through the air, and Rivers is completing an astounding 71.6 percent of his passes.
The Chargers will be able to move the ball through the air and lean on their running game to control the clock. As a result, they’ll leave Miami with a win.
Prediction: San Diego Chargers 28, Miami Dolphins 17
Arizona Cardinals at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars managed to score 29 points last week despite producing only 214 total yards of offense. They were bailed out by four Tennessee Titans turnovers and gained more than 50 yards on just two of their 15 drives.
Even though they picked up their first win of the season, the Jaguars still have major problems on both sides of the ball. They possess the league’s worst offense and defense according to ProFootballFocus (subscription required).
While the Arizona Cardinals have offensive woes of their own, they do boast ProFootballFocus’ ninth-best defense (subscription required).
Jacksonville has no real advantage in this game, and it won’t be able to move the chains on offense.
It’s right back to losing for the Jaguars in Week 11.
Prediction: Arizona Cardinals 31, Jacksonville Jaguars 16
