2K Sports Classic 2013: Teams, Schedule, Live Stream, Bracket, TV Info

The 2K Sports Classic is already underway, although the all-important championship rounds won’t take place until later in November.

This wide-reaching event is for a great cause, as each game will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Fortunately, plenty of top teams are participating in the tournament, and a number of solid matchups are on tap over the next week or so.

Let’s take a look at which teams are involved, the complete schedule of contests, a bracket for the championship rounds and more.

Headliners: Indiana, UConn, Boston College, Washington

These four powerhouses are prominently involved in the 2K Sports Classic, hosting a pair of contests on their home campuses before travelling to the Big Apple to play in the championship rounds on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.

Other Participants: Detroit, Eastern Washington, Florida Atlantic, LIU-Brooklyn, Stony Brook, Toledo, UC-Irvine

These schools will have a chance to topple the big-name players in this event, participating in the regional events ahead of the championship rounds and then moving to the subregional events that take place from Nov. 22 through Nov. 24.

Predicted Winner: Indiana

The Hoosiers are a fringe Top 25 team this year, receiving votes in the AP poll while getting a generous No. 23 ranking in the USA Today poll.

However, winning the 2K Sports Classic would put them on the map and set the tone for the upcoming campaign, so expect head coach Tom Crean to have his boys prepared to take this one.

While the loss of stars Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller to the NBA draft severely hurts Indiana’s chances of success in 2013-14, the squad still features a number of solid contributors.

Sophomore forward Jeremy Hollowell is expected to take on a much bigger role, while freshman Troy Williams joins him in the frontcourt and should make a great impact this season.

Noah Vonleh is another young phenom who should be able to use his 6’10”, 240-pound frame to dominate the competition and control the paint.

There is a solid core here, and it would be surprising if IU had much trouble making a run through this tourney up until the finals.

UConn poses the biggest threat in this tourney, as the Huskies are ranked No. 19 in the AP poll. If both teams are able to navigate through to the last contest, expect it to be a great one.
