Simply Pathetic: Why Kroenke Sports Sucks at Just About Everything

Ron JohnsonMay 20, 2009

"They should move the game to an earlier start?"

"Why are the Nuggets forced to play back to back at home, but not in LA?"

"Why are we fighting about something as sad as wrestling?"

All these questions were brought to my attention over the last few days in Denver. Apparently Kroenke Sports Enterprises (KSE), the people who own about 80 percent of Denver's major sports, double—booked the Pepsi Center for this Monday.

And now, a decision has been rendered: Due to KSE's ignorant booking regulations, WWE RAW will be forced to pack up everything on Sunday, following the show in Loveland, and rush over to Los Angeles for the Monday night taping.

You're kidding me, right?

What makes the Nuggets so special right now? Because they're playing in their first Western Conference Finals in two decades? Because they're playing Kobe Bryant and the Lakers?

Because the city of Denver has nothing to smile about right now since the Rockies are in the basement, the Broncos are in shambles, the Crush are non—existent, and the Avs just plain suck?

I just want to know what the criteria was for KSE's decision to give over 12,000 people the proverbial shaft and literal reacharound when they opted to not consider moving the Nuggets—Lakers game up a few hours. Because of that, there have been several things that have happened.

For starters, the Carmelo jersey that once hung in my closet will suffer a severe accident this Monday, as it will collide with a can of kerosene, a box of matches, and the very street that they just painted that Nuggets logo on.

Don't be surprised to hear about several fans booing during the pregame show of the Nuggets game. KSE has given everyone who bought tickets the option to get a refund, but they shouldn't be getting a refund...they should be getting the show.

So Vince McMahon is pissed. Those 12,000+ WWE fans are pissed. All of us in Northern Colorado are pissed. And this writer is extremely pissed...and disappointed...and embarrassed.

I can't apologize for KSE, the Pepsi Center or the city of Denver. In fact, I won't. Why wouldn't I stand up for the Nuggets? Because none of them chimed in and gave the most obvious idea: "Hey Gang! Let's play about four hours earlier so that way we can all get cleaned up just in time for the WWE show and have front row seats!"

But yet, KSE lays claim that they were professional through this whole process. Now, that's got to be a joke! In fact, that's an insult.

I know for a fact that the Budweiser Events Center Changeover Crew can change from hockey to football, to graduation, to rodeos, and back to hockey...in a single work week. But yet, the Pepsi Center can't do what the Staples Center did eight years ago?

If you're wondering, the Staples Center Changeover Crew changed the basketball court, following a Kings—Lakers playoff game, to the hockey rink for the Avs—Kings playoff game in the same night.

In any event, I have decided that the only thing about the NBA that sounds enjoyable right now is if David Stern and everyone in KSE got in the ring and got decimated by the likes of Batista, John Cena, Triple H, and Edge.

To make matters even more enjoyable, Randy Orton can just punt them in the skull and put them on the shelf for six months. But since the ratings of the NBA Playoffs have taken a dive since the fall of the Celtics, it won't be long until the NBA knows that, because of their ignorance, and not having a calendar, people suffered.

So, instead of playing earlier, the Nuggets and Lakers will play as scheduled. Vince will move the show to LA and return to Denver, to the mediocre Denver Coliseum for a lousy house show, in August. So who's to blame for this: KSE? NBA?

Why not both? The NBA could have easily fixed this problem, but their egos wouldn't allow that. KSE could have fixed this, but the thought of Denver on national TV was too much for them to pass up.

So the WWE fans in Denver have to wait for the House Show in August, refund their tickets for the show on Monday; and the possibility that Loveland and Colorado Springs may lose their shows as well is not sitting well with anyone.

So, will I watch the Nuggets—Lakers Game Four this Monday? Don't bank on it. Will I watch Game Two tomorrow night? Wouldn't count on that either. Will I even pay attention to the series now? Not likely.

And it's all thanks to people with lots of money have no brains whatsoever.

And I know that just me saying this will have little effect on anyone whatsoever. Just one fan voicing their disdain for the results of this fiasco will have little difference.

But if KSE, the NBA and the WWE all saw what was being said in this article, and what people are saying about the situation, I bet they will change their tune if this happens next year.

If the City of Angels can make room for WWE, maybe, just maybe, the Mile High City will pull its head out of its butt and realize that there is more than one party in town. And the next time WWE comes to town, KSE should not only foot the bill...they should give the first 12,000 fans free tickets.

It's the least they can do for not thinking simple. But that's just my opinion.
