New NBA Free-Throw Rule Explained

Guy Dupuy Performs Blake Griffin Car Slam with Between-the-Leg Twist

Gabe ZaldivarJun 4, 2018

Cars play awful defense.

Yahoo! Sports' Eric Freeman reports basketball players are still trying to leap over cars for bigger and better slam dunks. We can all cross our fingers that this trend continues until Winnebagos make their way onto a court.

The man taking a handoff from his buddy only to go between his legs for a masterful dunk is Team Flight Brothers' Guy Dupuy.

If it looks familiar, it's because the hype and hoopla surrounding Blake Griffin's dunk during the 2012 Slam Dunk contest is forever etched in our memories.

Then again, it's always nice to see Baron Davis hand the ball off to Griffin before the Los Angeles Clippers star dunks over a car. So here:

Now we can sit back and let the grand debate begin: Who had the better slam dunk?

If I had to pick, I would take Dupuy, who decided to go through the middle of a car while also taking the ball between his legs.

Of course, Griffin's had far better production value, but Dupuy—as Freeman points out—tops Griffin's slam in every way. From the placement of the car, to the manner of the dunk, to the seamless way he lands on the other side—it's all rather beautiful.

Now let's just talk about the elephant in the room. The car is a convertible with the top down, making this slightly better than jumping over the hood of a car.

With that, we have to ask every last one of you slam-dunk artists to cease and desist from any future attempts unless it is over the middle of a complete car.

Then again, it's rather entertaining to see automobiles getting posterized, so belay that order and proceed as planned.
