Wimbledon 2013 Results: Breaking Down Most Impressive Runs at All England Club
Wimbledon is far from over, but it has still been one of the craziest Grand Slam events in a long time.
In a sport that does not often feature many upsets, we have seen some of the most iconic figures of the sport go down before the quarterfinals. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were knocked out in the opening two rounds, while Serena Williams also suffered an early loss.
As a result, not every tournament run is created equal. A few players on each side of the draw have had an easy time getting to this point while facing weaker opponents.

On the other hand, these competitors have had to work hard to advance deep into this prestigious event.
Lukasz Kubot
When Lukasz Kubot looked at the draw, there is little chance he imagined himself still playing in the quarterfinals. The No. 130 player in the world had never reached this stage in his career, and his bracket was especially difficult.
However, the Polish player was in for some luck early. Steve Darcis knocked Rafael Nadal out in the first round and then withdrew before the second round, giving Kubot a pass to the third round.
While this was a fortunate turn of events, Kubot has been impressive since then, defeating Benoit Paire in straight sets and then battling to beat Adrian Mannarino in a comeback effort.
The veteran has displayed great composure throughout the tournament and has a chance to keep winning with an upcoming match against Jerzy Janowicz.
The fact that you can say this about a player ranked so low entering the tournament is certainly shocking, but it is a testament to how well Kubot has performed.
It is not at all surprising that Novak Djokovic is still playing in the quarterfinals as the No. 1 seed in the tournament. However, the pure dominance he has displayed has been impressive even for him.
Despite facing some solid competition in recent rounds including Tommy Haas and Jeremy Chardy, the Serbian has not lost a set. If he continues playing the way he has, he could keep that up through the final.
The most impressive aspect of his game has been his serve. In the third round, Djokovic won an incredible 40-of-43 points on his first serve, giving Chardy very little chance to stay in the match. Just for good measure, he was also 12-of-15 on his second serve.
Djokovic has been nearly flawless throughout the tournament with few unforced errors and great shots from everywhere on the court. It is possible that the only one who can beat him at this point is himself.
Sabine Lisicki
There is something about the grass at Wimbledon that brings out the best in Sabine Lisicki. While she has yet to reach the quarterfinals of any other Grand Slam, this year's run makes three quarterfinal appearances in the last four years for her at All England Club.
Lisicki only lost a total of seven games in her first two matches, and then overcame a slow start to dominate Samantha Stosur in the third.
Of course, the big moment of the tournament was her fourth-round win over Serena Williams. The American had not lost in 34 matches and appeared unbeatable, but Lisicki was never intimidated.
The German matched Williams on the serve and was impressive at the net to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the year. Regardless of what happens going forward, the young player can take solace in the fact that she beat one of the all-time greats.
Tomas Berdych
While Tomas Berdych is still one of the more talented players on tour, he has struggled recently and had a few first-round exits looming over him entering the tournament.
The Czech player lost to Gael Monfils to start the French Open, and fell to Ernests Gulbis in the opening match of Wimbledon last year. He had to make sure he got off to a good start this time around.
Fortunately, he appears to have turned things around with wins over a few talented young players. While Kevin Anderson has been the only seeded competitor on his path to the quarterfinals, Daniel Brands and Bernard Tomic are both capable of beating almost anyone on a given day.
Still, Berdych appears to have his confidence back, which should be as high as ever after he totaled 24 aces in the fourth round against Tomic. This should help in a tough quarterfinal matchup against Djokovic.
