Wizards Trade Jordan Crawford to Celtics for Leandro Barbosa

The Washington Wizards have made a move just ahead of the NBA's trade deadline on Thursday, shipping out shooting guard Jordan Crawford to the Boston Celtics in exchange for injured combo guard Leandro Barbosa.

Wojnarowski's reports were later confirmed by the Associated Press (via NBA.com). 

Crawford averaged 13.2 points, 3.7 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game for the struggling Wizards, but he saw his minutes vanish with the return of John Wall and the much-improved play of rookie Bradley Beal. 

After shooting under 30 percent over a six-game stretch starting in late January, the former Xavier standout had not played in the team's past four games. 

Barbosa will not bring anything to the Wizards other than an expiring contract, as he tore his ACL in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Feb. 11. The Brazilian reportedly requested a trade back in January (via ESPN Brazil), but Barbosa and Celtics GM Danny Ainge later shot down that report.

It remains to be seen just how much help Crawford can provide for the C's. He is a rhythm shooter with deep range but struggles with shot selection, a likely contributing factor to his recent benching. 

But with a less turbulent organization in Boston, and veterans like Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce surrounding him, Crawford might be able to harness his potential and blossom into a star sixth man.
