Josh Smith Goes Coast to Coast for Monster Dunk over Brook Lopez
Josh Smith and Brook Lopez are currently in competition for a spot in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game. For that reason, it's only right that the two ended up running in transition during the final minute of a close battle between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks.
On this night, it was Smith who bested Lopez. He also put him on a poster.
Twitter instantly erupted.

"JOSH SMITH!

Jared Zwerling!
Zwerling completed his thought with a follow-up tweet describing Smith's actions. In his words, this is a highlight for the night.
You know, like everything else Smith does.
"Flushed over Brook Lopez on a fastbreak. Definitely a highlight for tonight.

Not only was this a highlight, but it was a phenomenal display of athletic ability and focus.
As for the impact of the dunk, the flush cut Brooklyn's lead to just one point with 1:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. This caused many to speculate that the Nets were going to let this one get away.
Even those who didn't have doubts shared one unanimous sentiment: that was one heck of a dunk.
"Josh Smith just had one of those dunks where it's hard not to yell wow!. Awesome power over Lopez. Cuts it to one, 1:02 to play.
— Brian Mahoney (@briancmahoney) January 19, 2013"
A powerful finish with a significant impact.
Unfortunately for Smith and the Hawks, the Nets managed to hold on for a 94-89 victory. Atlanta drops to 22-17, while Brooklyn improves to 24-16.
Smith finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. He also shot just 5-of-15 from the floor.
Lopez tallied 20 points and six boards on 7-of-12 shooting.
This may not have decided which of these players has the edge to become an All-Star, but one thing is perfectly clear: If you get in Josh Smith's way, he will embarrass you.
This is evidence enough.
