Miami Heat vs. Golden State Warriors 1/16/13: Video Highlights and Recap

As usual, Miami Heat star and future NBA legend LeBron James stole the show in this one.

James scored 25 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed seven boards on Wednesday night to help the Heat take care of the Golden State Warriors 92-75. Mario Chalmers and Dwyane Wade chipped in 15 points apiece and all of the Heat starters had a plus/minus higher than 24 by the end of the evening.

But as usual, this one was about James. In particular, it was about his ascension toward the top of every NBA leaderboard known to man.

James became the fastest player to reach the 20,000-point plateau with a jumper in the second quarter, breaking a record held by Kobe Bryant. James reached the mark at 28 years, 17 days, while it took Bryant 29 years and 122 days. James also recorded his 5,000th career assist in the contest. 

Without Stephen Curry, the Golden State offense didn't click all night, as the Heat managed to hold the Warriors to 36 percent shooting and just five fast-break points. Jarrett Jack led the way for the Warriors with 16 points, while David Lee had just 12—not a good sign for his All-Star chances against a big-time opponent.

Golden State scored just 29 points in the second and third quarter combined, but managed to take advantage of the Heat coasting to a victory to make the score more respectable in the fourth.

James did what he was supposed to do against a team with little chance of competing without Curry and managed to climb more leaderboards in the process. There's little doubt who the league's best all-around player is—he wears No. 6 for Miami.

Up Next for the Heat

The Heat will continue their West Coast swing in Los Angeles on Thursday, where the Lakers await. Kobe Bryant and Co. have been playing well of late with the re-addition of Steve Nash, the heightened play of Dwight Howard and the absence of Pau Gasol.

In a battle for both bragging rights and the major media markets on both sides of the United States, this will be a big test for the Heat on the tail end of a back-to-back.

Up Next for the Warriors

Golden State is going to have plenty of chances to defend its early success, and one of those chances will come on Friday when the Warriors travel to San Antonio for a visit with the Spurs.

Richard Jefferson will return to San Antonio after being traded for Stephen Jackson last season, while the Spurs will work on containing Curry and Lee with one of the league's best strategies toward team defense. Golden State will put that to the test on Friday, as they do with most opponents on a nightly basis.
