Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett Spat Is Much Ado About Honey Nut Cheerios

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

It seems the brouhaha that broke out between Kevin Garnett and Carmelo Anthony centered on some possible words uttered by KG over Anthony's wife, LaLa Vasquez. Oh, and Honey Nut Cheerios were also involved.

Chances are, the reason behind Garnett causing a ruckus has to be just as crazy as the menacing face he puts on pretty much any night during the regular season.

SI.com piqued our interest with a report mentioning that, "Carmelo Anthony says he lost his cool after Kevin Garnett said things to him that he feels shouldn't be said to 'another man.'"

Do tell.

Well, word began to leak out, as it does these days, through the magic of Twitter. SportsGrid spotted this tweet which has the entire world talking.

"

@danfoges fromfriend who was @ the gm NO JOKE Garnett told Melo "Your wife taste like honey nut Cheerios" i dont know why but it is true.

—Sous Chef Phlay (@THEBASEDBOB) January 8, 2013"

In case you were thinking this is just the ramblings of a fan ready to make things up, the New York Daily News is also running with this angle, via SportsGrid

It all went down during the Knicks Monday night loss to the Celtics. Both Anthony and Garnett had been getting chippy with one another all game.

At some point, we imagine, KG began chirping into Anthony's ear. What ensued was some pushing, shoving and a postgame rendezvous backstage.

Here is a video of Anthony allegedly outside the Celtics team bus.

If that weren't enough, TMZ captured an alleged KG and Melo face off with the two shouting at one another after the game.

Later reports say that the two have agreed to let the whole ordeal die down, which brings me to the proper way to diffuse the situation.

Hoopsworld's Alex Kennedy tweeted this marvel.

"

A few years ago, Kevin Garnett was talking trash to Dwight Howard. He said some crazy stuff. Dwight started cracking up, and KG was furious.

—Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) January 8, 2013"

I can just see it now, an irate Garnett trying his best to anger a laughing D12.

Take note, NBA stars: The next time KG tells you something awful, laugh and call him crazy. "No, seriously, you crazy."

Hit me up on Twitter for more pop in that culture.
