The Dallas Mavericks were in position to shock the Miami Heat on Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena, but the home team went on a run in overtime to emerge victorious, 119-109.
The Mavericks jumped off to a 30-22 lead after one quarter of play, but the Heat bounced back, taking the lead through three quarters.
But Dallas, determined not to go down without a fight, edged Miami in the fourth quarter after Dirk Nowitzki's 14-footer with three seconds left was true, setting up overtime.

It was all Miami in overtime, though, as the Heat outscored the Mavericks in the frame, 16-6.
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Ray Allen scored in double figures for the home team, nullifying a Dallas effort that saw five players score in double figures.
Miami shot 47 percent from the floor (including 10 three-pointers), while Dallas shot 44 percent.

LeBron James was sensational on Wednesday night, posting 32 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block.
He also assisted Shane Battier's three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining in regulation, which proved to be vital when Nowitzki hit a jumper with three seconds left.

Dallas hosts the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday. The Hornets just got back shooting guard Eric Gordon. He posted 24 points and seven assists in his first game back against the Charlotte Bobcats on Dec. 29.
