Philadelphia 76ers Finally Get Good News on Andrew Bynum, Sort Of

Maxwell OgdenJun 7, 2018

According to Tom Moore of PhillyBurbs.com, the Philadelphia 76ers finally received good news on Andrew Bynum. Sort of.

Over the past two months, we've heard numerous reports in reference to Bynum's return from a variety of knee injuries, the most recent of which occurred while bowling, as Bynum reaggravated the already-injured knee (via ESPN).

John N. Mitchell of The Philadelphia Inquirer would later report that there is no timetable for Bynum's return.

During a recent interview with numerous members of the Sixers, general manager Tony DiLeo spoke on Bynum's road to recovery. Per a tweet via Moore, DiLeo states that Bynum's knees are healing.

He also dismisses the idea of there not being any actual improvement:

"

#Sixers DiLeo on #Bynum: 'His knees are healing. He has been approved to increase his activity level, but still no timetable for return.'

— Tom Moore (@tmoorepburbs) December 21, 2012"

Perhaps most concerning of all is the fact that DiLeo is uncertain as to whether or not Bynum can make an impact in 2012-13, a season which happens to be his first and last with the 76ers, contractually speaking.

Could his future with the franchise be in jeopardy?

"

#Sixers DiLeo: 'hard to predict if (#Bynum) can get back' in time to make impact this season.

— Tom Moore (@tmoorepburbs) December 21, 2012"

Moore would later speak with Bynum himself, who can be seen in this video with crazy hair and a low voice.

For those who couldn't hear what Bynum had to say, Moore transcribed the important statement via a tweet:

"

#Sixers Bynum: 'I'm confident I'll be back playing this season.'

— Tom Moore (@tmoorepburbs) December 21, 2012"

As for those of you wondering what in the world is going on with Bynum's hair, he has a response:

"

#Sixers #Bynum on his hair: 'It's French braids, man.'

— Tom Moore (@tmoorepburbs) December 21, 2012"

Signs of progression offer reason for hope. Unfortunately, this latest update appears to be more of the same ambiguity.

There's still no definitive date for Bynum's return.
