Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns 10/31/12: Video Highlights and Recap

Ian HanfordOct 31, 2012

The Golden State Warriors started their season off on the right foot Wednesday night by earning an 87-85 win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Warriors had a six-point advantage at halftime, but Phoenix outscored Mark Jackson's crew by eight in the third quarter. The game may have wound up the other way, but Carl Landry made two critical buckets with less than two minutes to play to earn his team the victory.

Landry led the Warriors in scoring with 17, despite coming off the bench Wednesday night, followed by Klay Thompson's 16. Brandon Rush also supplied 14 points off the bench.

Goran Dragic and Luis Scola combined for 32 points for Phoenix, but the Suns weren't able to earn the win.

Player of the Game: Klay Thompson

Three Warriors players played more than 30 minutes on Wednesday, but Thompson was the only one who scored in double figures. The sweet-shooting 2-guard knocked down four of seven three-point tries, making up for Stephen Curry's 0-of-6 night from beyond the arc.

Thompson also grabbed eight rebounds. If he hadn't turned it over four times, Wednesday's performance would have been perfect for the second-year guard.

What's Next for the Golden State Warriors

The 1-0 Warriors will try to continue their momentum on Friday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.

What's Next for the Phoenix Suns

The 0-1 Suns will try to earn their first win of the season on Friday when the Detroit Pistons come to town.
