Celtics' Rajon Rondo Begins Arduous Internship with "GQ" for NYC Fashion Week

Gabe ZaldivarSep 6, 2012

Rajon Rondo is heading to work, but it has nothing to do with his duties as one of the best point guards in the NBA

Instead, he will be getting coffee and printing copies, or whatever interns at GQ Magazine do, because that is his lot in life for the next few days.

I will presume his duties are not nearly as mundane as your average intern, but it's still fun to think they are.

GQ Magazine's Mark Anthony Green reports that the Boston Celtics All-Star will dip his toes in the shallow end of high-fashion journalism during the all-important NYC Fashion Week.

"

Fashion Week is our busiest time of year...We needed a little help, someone to run point back at home base and on the ground floor at Lincoln Center. Who better than NBA All-star—and all around stylish dude—Rajon Rondo? Rajon will be interning at GQ for the next few days, helping our game out and learning a thing or two about menswear and the magazine industry. You'll see interviews, critiques, and blog post from the future hall-of-famer popping up all week. And from the tip-off of his time on our team, it doesn't seem like he left his competitive instinct back in Beantown. Other interns, beware.

"

If you want to catch a glimpse of Rondo in action (at least the kind of action that interns muster), you can keep it tuned into GQ's coverage, or head over to his Facebook page, where he already placed some interning insanity.

I really never saw this coming.

This is the time of year for NBA stars to be catching up on their last rays of sunshine at a tropical locale or polishing off that very last sip of an exotic cocktail.

Also, Rondo never struck us as the fashion-forward guru who had much of an interest in sartorial exploits.

Yahoo! Sports (via RideThePine.com) reminds us of this awful number:

See? Not a fashion conscious bone in his body.

Nonetheless, we congratulate Rondo on the gigantic opportunity to work with an amazing name in fashion. I am sure his tireless efforts won him the spot over other hungry writers.

But seriously, congrats, and we look forward to Rondo telling us what to wear.
