Bill Lee: 'Spaceman' Still Has Gas in the Tank, Pitches Complete Game at Age 65
Bill "Spaceman" Lee still has that it quality, and can still manage to pitch a complete game at the professional level too.ย
The former MLB star, famous for basically saying whatever nonsense crept through the transom of his mind during his careerย and was constantly a chore for management to handle, was always a joy for fans to watch.ย
He's still at it. At least, he is still pitching and even imparting a great amount of his baseball wisdom to another generation. One of the greatest characters in the history of the game managed to complete a full game at the ripe age of 65 years old.ย

NYY Lineup Predictions for Wild Card ๐ฎ
MLB.com reports the former Red Sox pitcher stepped up to the mound on Thursday night for theย San Rafael Pacifics of the independent North American League and came away with a complete-game victory. The game only took two hours and 21 minutes.ย
Somewhere, Joe Blanton isย extremelyย jealous.ย
A portion of the report makes us all jealous with how entertaining this game must have been for those inย attendanceย to see the oldest man to ever go the distanceโLee already owned that record when he did the same thing in 2010 at the age of 63, via NBC Sports:
"He threw in a few "Lee-phus" pitches for good measure and brought the crowd to its feet with an RBI single, using a bat he'd made with his own hands from his own Vermont yellow birch.
All the while, the question in the minds of his fellow players and the sellout crowd: How is this space oddity still able to take the mound and pitch against players who weren't even born when he supposedly hung up his spikes in 1982?
"I'm able to do it because I never quit. I still play all the time. This is just another game," Lee said as the sun started lowering in a clear sky toward his twilight first pitch.
"
Lee's passion for the game is one remarkable thing, but so is the fact that he just didn't give up.ย
To him, the answer is simple: if you want to keep playing baseball, well, just keep on playing baseball. That's just crazy enough to make sense.ย
