Metta World Peace Competes in Yo Gabba Gabba Olympics

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Metta World Peace was on Nick Jr.'s Yo Gabba Gabba!, and the result was pretty much the most Metta World Peace thing you can imagine.

World Peace broke out the short shorts for his cameo on the hippest kids show around. It was all part of a bizarre time that was on par with what we have come to expect from the good people at Yo Gabba Gabba!, as well as from the Lakers star himself.

World Peace ran against Toodee, a "blue cat-dragon," and Mrs. Fox, who looks like just as her name suggests. A red cyclops (Muno), a pink flower (Foofa) and a robot (Plex) watched the so-called "Yo Gabba Olympics" with unyielding enthusiasm. World Peace's 8-year-old daughter, Diamond, coached him on the sideline.

When the race began, the enigmatic athlete broke into a slow-motion sprint that was odd and hilarious. He maintained the pace around the track to just barely get the drop on Toodee and Mrs. Fox.

The best part was, of course, daughter Diamond running to embrace her father as he stood triumphant over the colorful cast of characters.

With the crowd chanting, "Yo Gabbalympics," I couldn't help but think Metta World Peace could seamlessly become part of the show.

The man has a world to retire to when he hangs up the sneakers.
