NBA Rumors: Latest Whispers on Jimmer Fredette, Omri Casspi, Knicks and More
The exciting part of the 2012 NBA offseason has come and gone, but there are still a number of intriguing trades and whispers happening around the league.
Let’s take a look at some of the most intriguing talk that has taken place over the past few days.
Jimmer Fredette
The Sacramento Kings and Jimmer Fredette are a tenuous marriage at best. That’s why there is no surprise that the former BYU star is reportedly on the trading block.
According to FOX Sports Ohio’s Sam Amico, the Oklahoma City Thunder are interested in trading for Jimmer to replace Derek Fisher as a backup guard.
It would be a win-win for both sides, considering Sacrament would get rid of one of many ball hogs on the roster, while OKC would be acquiring a capable ball-handler and solid scorer in the second unit.
This is nothing more than just whispers now, but keep it tuned to B/R to see if this story continues to develop.
Omri Casspi
There are conflicting reports on Omri Casspi’s status as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Initial reports had it that Casspi and the franchise were both interested in reaching a buyout agreement, but the latest news has it that both the organization and player are denying any talks have even happened concerning the topic of a buyout.
Casspi, an extremely popular player due to his Jewish heritage, has played in the NBA for the past three years as a member of the Sacramento Kings and, most recently, the Cavs.
Keep it here throughout the coming days to find out if Casspi, who is set to become a restricted free agent after the coming season, and the Cavs can get on the same page.
New York Knicks
The Knicks are almost done retooling their roster this summer and should be close to set for the upcoming season.
However, they might make one small tweak due to the emergence of some young, skilled players. Chris Copeland and J.R. Smith’s younger brother, Chris, have both earned unguaranteed contracts from the franchise.
If they continue their excellent offseasons, the Knicks would be crazy not to sign these two young point guards to at least stash in the D-League.
