Jeremy Lin: Rockets' Marketing Icon Riding Wave of Momentum

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

Jeremy Lin became a marketing icon in New York last season when he led the Knicks on a magnificent run during the regular season.

Now, after signing as a restricted free agent with the Houston Rockets this summer, Lin is posting videos online about his offseason in Houston.

Nobody knows the wave of momentum Lin is riding more than Lin. That's why it isn't surprising the Harvard graduate is making the most of his popularity and cult following.

Lin's latest video shows his workout regimen (on the court and in the gym), his diet and what he does with his free time (which apparently includes miniature golf).

Lin, who averaged 18.2 points, 7.7 assists and two steals in 25 starts for the Knicks last season, knows exactly what he's doing. There is no doubt he's a smart man, both on and off the court, and if he plays next season the way he did in 2011-2012, his popularity figures to skyrocket even more.

And if you think Lin moving from New York to Houston will see his stock drop, you have another thing coming. The 23-year-old is a one-man wrecking crew wherever he goes. He's also making the steps necessary to boost his value headed into next season.

Lin was not only an asset to the Knicks because of his play last season. He brought money to the franchise off the court, and many believed the Knicks made a mistake by failing to re-sign him, even if that meant matching a three-year, $25 million offer.

The Rockets figure to reap the rewards of having Lin on their team these next three years. He not only has a big following in the U.S., he has a huge following in Asia.

You better believe Lin will make a sky-high impact in Houston, even if he fails to live up to expectations on the hardwood.
