NBA Draft 2012 Results: Lottery Picks Who Will Become All-Stars
The New Orleans Hornets drafted a future NBA All-Star on Thursday night when they selected Kentucky power forward Anthony Davis with the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. But Davis wasn't the only lottery pick on draft night with an All-Star nod in his future.
Here are the 2012 lottery picks who will become NBA All-Stars.
Anthony Davis - No. 1, New Orleans Hornets
The No. 1 overall pick has franchise-altering talent and will turn things around next season for the New Orleans Hornets as a dominant presence in the paint. Davis blocked nearly five shots per game last season with Kentucky, and he will continue to intimidate down low in the NBA.
In addition to Davis' physical talents, his energy and motor are off the charts. His non-stop effort on the glass and on the defensive end will impact games even if it doesn't show up in the box score. Davis will be an All-Star in no time if he stays hungry and determined to prove himself at the next level.
Bradley Beal - No. 3, Washington Wizards
Former Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal has drawn comparisons to legendary sharpshooter Ray Allen and is one of the best shooters coming out this summer. Beal shot better than 44 percent from the field as a freshman with the Gators last season, averaging 14.8 points per game in the process.
What also makes Beal special as a shooting guard is his strength and ability to rebound the basketball. Beal averaged 6.7 rebounds per game last season with Florida and will help the Wizards improve on the glass as a rare rebounding guard.
Damian Lillard - No. 6, Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers took a huge step towards solving their point guard problem by taking Weber State's Damian Lillard, a scoring point guard with tons of potential. Lillard averaged 24.5 points per game last season in addition to tossing out four assists on average.
Lillard has four seasons of college experience and is one of the older players coming out in 2012. The Oakland native will make an impact right away thanks to his natural scoring ability and superb jump shot. As his court vision develops and he becomes more of a floor general, Lillard will transform from 2012 lottery pick to NBA All-Star.
