Andre Drummond: How Far Will High-Risk, High-Reward Prospect Slide?
You can't teach size.
Unfortunately for NBA Draft prospect Andre Drummond, you can't teach hustle either.
Drummond, the 7'0" monster prospect out of UConn, has seen his name going as high as No. 4 overall in some draft projections. But with the draft less that eight hours away, he could be slipping.
According to Hoopsworld, Drummond may fall out of the lottery altogether.
Quoting Gerry Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times, Hoopsworld printed the following on the morning of the draft.
""There is even a chance, an outside one, that Connecticut center Andre Drummond could fall to 14. Some NBA officials told me Wednesday that Drummond, once a projected top four selection, is falling."
"
It's unlikely that Drummond drops that far, but it has to be alarming for those in his camp to see their man's name dropping. Woelfel goes on to note that he's heard Drummond either going at No. 9 to Detroit or No. 11 and Portland.
In his Mock Draft 10.0, ESPN.com's Chad Ford has Drummond going to Sacramento at No. 5 if the Kings keep the pick, or perhaps the Rockets if they trade with the Kings for that selection.
""Sources say the Kings are still confident they'll make a deal with the Rockets (who covet Drummond). If they don't, sources say GM Geoff Petrie is leaning toward taking Drummond over Harrison Barnes. He feels it's a more tradable chip down the road, and the team needs a shot blocker (the one thing Drummond does well now) next to DeMarcus Cousins."
"
Meanwhile, SI.com's Sam Amick points out that Drummond "has more upside than anyone not named Anthony Davis in the draft." Amick surmises that the Warriors may go for Drummond at No. 7 and, "every team that passes on him runs the risk of looking silly if he pans out sooner rather than later."
Regardless of how Drummond's fate plays out, it's clear that he's one of the, if not the most polarizing players in this entire draft.
