NBA Draft Start Time 2012: When and Where to Watch the Much-Anticipated Action
As if there was any suspense remaining, we'll finally get to see Anthony Davis don his first NBA jersey on Thursday night, and barring the biggest shocker of the year, it will say New Orleans on it.
But after Davis is selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Hornets in this year's NBA draft, everything is up in the air. Will Michael Kidd-Gilchrist follow him in the order? Will Bradley Beal? Or Thomas Robinson? Will Charlotte even be picking second?
With all of the abundant uncertainty surrounding the draft comes excitement, and you don't have to miss any of it on June 28 at 7 p.m. ET. You can see the live broadcast on ESPN, but if you're not at your TV, you can catch the live stream on ESPN3. And make sure you tune in right at 7 p.m., or else you might miss Davis' big moment.
Though there isn't any suspense regarding Davis' future, it will still be exciting to see whom the Hornets pick up at No. 10 to share the floor with the consensus top player in college basketball.
It'll be just as exciting to watch the trade pieces fall on draft night, and there are expected to be many.
For one, Charlotte—which lost the lottery to New Orleans—is still rumored to be shopping its No. 2 overall selection. The latest rumor, via Steve Kyler of HoopsWorld, has the Bobcats trading their second pick to the Cavaliers in exchange for the fourth and 24th selections.
Two for one isn't bad, especially when you're the Bobcats and you're in desperate need of several pieces in order to build something resembling a contender.
There's also a possibility that the Bobcats could package their 31st overall selection in a trade with the Cavs, or they could pick up Cleveland's 33rd and/or 34th picks. If the Bobcats hold onto the No. 2 selection, Kyler writes that they're likely to go with Kansas superstar Thomas Robinson.
Another big rumor-driver leading up to the draft is likely to be the Lakers, who are reportedly trying to get into the first round and could be looking for a way to deal Pau Gasol in exchange for a mid-first-round pick—perhaps those of Houston or Portland.
While we all continue to wait and speculate as the draft gets closer, here's a look at my projected top 10 picks on draft night.
