NBA Free Agents 2012: 5 Players Who Will Be Bargain Buys This Summer

Sam RichmondJun 7, 2018

The 2012 NBA playoffs are in full swing, but it won't be long until the Larry O'Brien trophy is handed out and free agency begins.

Deron Williams headlines this year's class and will likely receive max money, but this class features many talented players who will be paid a lot less.

Let's take a look at five of those players.

Andre Miller: PG, Denver Nuggets

1 of 5

At 36 years old, Andre Miller is nearing the end of his NBA career. But the guy can still play.

As a backup to Ty Lawson, Miller played 27.4 minutes per game this season, averaging 9.7 points and 6.7 assists. Miller has been even better in the postseason, scoring 51 points in the past three games.

Miller has developed the reputation as the crafty veteran, seemingly willing to do all it takes to help get a win. He would be an excellent signing by a contender looking for a back-up point guard and only willing to pay a few million dollars.

Chauncey Billups: PG, Los Angeles Clippers

2 of 5

Billups was averaging 14.9 points and four assists for the Clippers before he injured his Achilles in early February.

Because of the injury, the market for Billups' services won't be great. And the fact that he was shooting only 36.4 percent from the floor will not help either.

But let's not forget, he's still a very good three-point shooter (38.4 percent in 2012) and is great at the line (89.5 percent in 2012). Plus, he helps out tremendously from a leadership standpoint.

Considering the next-to-nothing price that Billups will require, there's no risk in a team seeing if Billups can again do what he was doing for the Clippers.

Antwan Jamison: PF, Cleveland Cavaliers

3 of 5

Jamison has already made it clear that he will not be returning to Cleveland, instead hitting the open market.

At age 35, Jamison started in all but one game this season, averaging 17.2 points and 6.3 rebounds in the process.

Jamison shouldn't be a starter anymore, and his 40.3 percent shooting percentage backs that up, but he would fit in well as a scorer off the bench.

It would be wise for teams such as the Spurs and Lakers to make a run at him.

Kenyon Martin: PF, Los Angeles Clippers

4 of 5

Since signing with the Clippers in early February, Kenyon Martin hasn't exactly filled up the stat sheet. In 22.4 minutes per game during the regular season, he averaged 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds.

But team's is need of a defender down low should give Martin a look. He's a tough presence and a solid shot blocker, which any team could always use.

Martin will likely cost around $2 million and is absolutely worth it.

Marcus Camby: C, Houston Rockets

5 of 5

Camby was very productive for the Rockets after they acquired him at the March 15 deadline.

In 19 games, he averaged 7.1 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. Those numbers are even more impressive when you consider he accomplished them in only 24.1 minutes per game. In fact, his 18.8 rebounds per 48 minutes was the best in the NBA in 2012.

At age 38, Camby likely won't command more than say $5 million. Given the lack of quality centers in the NBA and what Camby brings to the table, he's absolutely worth it.
