Mayweather vs. Cotto: 3 Reasons You Can't Miss This Fight
Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto meet up on Saturday and you would be wise not to miss what will be a Fight of the Year candidate.
Now, I'm not going to condone paying 65 of your well-earned dollars to see the fight, but go to a bar or split the cost with a couple of friends.
You're going to be sorry if you don't see this thing live and here's a look why.
Strength vs. Strength
Many people look at how Oscar De La Hoya gave Mayweather problems and suddenly have hope for Cotto because that was Mayweather's only other fight at this weight class.
But De La Hoya is much different than Cotto. The Golden Boy had a long reach and was thus able to keep Money off balance with his jab.
Cotto, on the other hand, doesn't have a good enough jab to really bother Mayweather. Instead, he's going to have to come out with a fury, get inside on Mayweather, and look for the big knockout punch.
Fortunately for Cotto, going for the knockout is his strength, as four of his last five wins have come via TKO.
Unfortunately for Cotto, his strength feeds right into Money's strength.
When Cotto aggressively comes at Mayweather, he leaves himself open. Against Money, who is arguably one of the best defensive fighters in history, that's not a good idea.
Speed and defense versus power. That alone makes this fight intriguing enough to watch.
It's Cinco de Mayo
Let's face it. This fight is taking place on May 5th and there's a very good chance you'll probably already be under the influence or at a bar anyway.
You might as well make sure you're at a bar that is showing the fight at zero cost to you. (Unless you count the cost of those seven appletinis)
There aren't a whole lot of better drunken activities than watching two boxers beat the hell out of each other.
Chance to See History
As Mayweather likes to put it, 42 fighters have tried and 42 have failed to end his undefeated streak.
If anyone ever does beat Mayweather, you're going to want to be able to say you saw the match where he lost his streak, because these types of runs don't have all the time.
If Mayweather does destroy Cotto and eventually go on the rest of his career undefeated, you can at least say you saw him in action.
You want see Mayweather for a while
After this fight, Floyd Mayweather has a trip to jail booked up for 90 days. If you like watching his beautiful bald head or just enjoy listening to him talk, this will be your last chance for a while.
