Fantasy Football Sleepers 2012: Offensive Rookies in Prime Positions to Succeed

Chris TrapassoJun 7, 2018

Now that the 2012 NFL draft is over, it's officially not too early to start thinking about fantasy football.

Which rookies are in the best positions to thrive in their first year at the pro ranks and rack up major points in fantasy football?

Marvin Jones, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Jones inexplicably plummeted to the fifth round, but he is one of the more well-rounded receivers in the class. At 6'2'' and 200 pounds, he's big enough to overwhelm smaller cornerbacks, yet still has dynamic shiftiness and decent speed.

With A.J. Green the established No. 1 receiver and Mohamed Sanu projected as solely a possession guy, Jones will be able a fine secondary option.

He's versatile and will bring more explosiveness to the Bengals offense than Sanu.

With teams rolling coverage deep to take away Green, Jones will thrive.

Coby Fleener, TE, Indianapolis Colts

An obvious choice. Fleener and Andrew Luck were on the same wavelength in college, and that will continue in the NFL

He's a huge target at 6'6'' and 250 pounds, and he swiftly moves down the seam while hauling in passes with soft hands.

Fleener should be a go-to target in the red zone as well.

A fantasy football sleeper.

Joe Adams, WR, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are one of the league's up-and-coming teams thanks to Cam Newton, and now, with the electric Joe Adams bursting out of the slot, they'll be even more explosive than they were last year.

Opposing defenses still need to worry about Steve Smith on the outside and Greg Olsen down the middle of the field, so Adams should have ample room to operate to get those legs churning.

He's incredible in space, and you better believe Carolina will be looking to get him the ball in the open field as much as possible.

Ronnie Hillman, RB, Denver Broncos

Hillman's the perfect representation of the new-age, multifaceted scat back that's trending in today's NFL. At 5'9'' and 190 pounds, he doesn't play with a ton of power, but he has awe-inspiring acceleration and devastating lateral agility.

The Broncos will need to run the football more than people think, and even if he doesn't get a ton of carries, expect Denver to utilize him as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

He'll be a dangerous check-down option for Peyton Manning
