Metta World Peace Sounds off on Media Regarding Suspension
Recent tweets from Metta World Peace prove that things are going to get interesting during his seven-game suspension. You see, Mr. Peace has an abundance of new-found free time. And as they say, an idle mind is the devil's playground.
I'm not sure even the devil would want to play in World Peace's mind. There is little doubt that given the time to reflect on things, it gets a little colorful in there.
It would appear that the former Mr. Artest has been watching a little TV, and he is not shying away from people talking about basketball. In fact, he is paying close attention.
Which is a curious choice, given that a large portion of hoops talks at the moment centers around what a disgusting and dangerous lack of judgement this flying elbow was.
Anyway, Metta was not inclined to let these attacks on him go unanswered.
He fired up his Twitter account to throw some virtual elbows on some of the people chucking criticism his direction.
Most of these tweets have since been removed, but Peace obviously felt upset that he was being singled out when there have been plenty of dirty blows over the course of the league.
This led him down a path of realization that one of the people ripping on him was, in fact, himself culprit of dirty plays.
Metta got into a little fact checking to point out he could see Shaquille O'Neal
With a few moments to reflect, Metta decided to fine tune his ire. He wanted it to be clear that it was the criticism from former players that was really getting him.
Metta was clearly annoyed at the harsh criticism being thrown his way. He chose to go on the offensive, and point out the faults in others.
He would have found it much more successful to be contrite, and point out the positive changes he has made. But that is just not in his makeup. It is the reason he is in this predicament in the first place.
He seemingly began to realize this. The above tweets were removed, and he added this one with a much different tone.
"So much frustration.@TheRealDMArtest was telling me everything that was said from former players.Definitely did not mean to hurt James.
— Metta WorldPeace (@MettaWorldPeace) April 26, 2012"
It is no secret that Metta struggles with impulse control. While he often arrives at a more logical place, it can be a winding path to get there.
He also clearly has a wealth of energy. Energy that hopefully will find a more positive outlet as his suspension meanders on. Although, I'm not going to count on that.
