2012 NFL Draft 1st-Round Odds: Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans quietly reserved their negative momentum despite a down year from bell-cow back Chris Johnson and an early season-ending injury to stud wide receiver Kenny Britt.
With Jake Locker ready to take over the reins and head coach Mike Munchak doing a great job, how will the Titans use their 20th overall pick to catch up to the Houston Texans?
30 percent - Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois - If free-agent Kamerion Wimbley and 2010 first-round pick Derrick Morgan both work out, the Titans will have a good problem. Mercilus could end up being the best pass-rusher in this draft, and he bolsters a flagging group.
15 percent - Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin - Konz may not boast the most absolute value out of the potential picks, as he is not quite the caliber of player as the Pouncey brothers, who went in the teens. Still, he would upgrade the center position immediately and would allow Eugene Amano to get back to his better position of guard.
15 percent - Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama - Kirkpatrick would be a good fit in the Titans defense, and he would easily be the best player available at a very valuable position if he gets through the 14-to-19 gauntlet.
15 percent - Nick Perry, DE/OLB, USC - Perry has similar athletic upside to Mercilus, but he wasn't as productive last year. If the Jets, Bengals, Chargers or Bears snag Mercilus, Perry could be the pick.
10 percent - Michael Brockers, DT, LSU - Once a hot name, Brockers' buzz has cooled, making him a possible best player available at the Titans' first pick.
5 percent - Mark Barron, S, Alabama - The Titans have little long-term stability at safety, so Barron would be a good pick, but how likely is he to get past the Cowboys, Eagles, Jets, Bengals and Chargers? Not very likely.
5 percent - Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame - The Titans could look to the big receiver as a best player available if he gets past the Bills, Cardinals, Jets, Bengals and Bears.
2.5 percent - David Decastro, OG, Stanford - A no-brainer if he's still there, but he's a possible best player available for any team after the 12th pick.
2.5 percent - Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina - With Gilmore's perceived risk this postseason, it seems very unlikely that he'll be there, but the Titans would probably scoop him up if he was.
