NFL Draft Order 2012: Teams Who'll Be Offered Insane Trades for 1st-Round Pick

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

It would be straight up shocking if the first round of the 2012 NFL draft didn’t have a drastic trade take place.

Nearly every season, a team will become enamored with a player that they feel will not fall to them on draft day and they decide to make a leap up.

The Redskins already made the first move, mortgaging their future in a deal with St. Louis to secure the No. 2 pick.

Let’s look at some other franchises that could be targeted as trading partners.

If a team were desperate enough to trade down with the Vikings here, Minnesota would be stupid not to accept it.

One organization that might be interested in swinging a deal is the Miami Dolphins. It’s extremely clear that they need a franchise QB and might not want to miss out on Ryan Tannehill.

Minnesota needs to improve their line and taking Matt Kalil here would be safe, but they could get a lot of potential value if the right offer emerges.

The Browns are generating some interest here, and a number of GMs have inquired about the possibility of a trade.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer, the Rams and Eagles are among the suitors.

Justin Blackmon, Morris Claiborne and Matt Kalil are reportedly among those players that would be targets if a team were to trade up here.

Mark Long of the Associated Press found that Jacksonville is receptive to flipping their No. 7 pick, and GM Gene Smith has received more calls this year than any other.

The team has a lot of needs and would love to move a few slots down to get more picks in this draft and in the future.

Even if a team like the Dolphins were to move down one slot to protect their chances at getting Tannehill, it would likely cost them a pretty penny.
