2012 NFL Draft: 1st-Round Studs with Pro Bowls in Their Future

Andrew KulhaJun 6, 2018

It's a safe bet to make that the big name 2012 NFL draft prospects like Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Matt Kalil, Morris Claiborne and Trent Richardson will all make the NFL Pro Bowl during their careers.

In fact, let me go on the record stating I believe they will all play in at least one.

Overall, this is an extremely deep class and there are potential Pro Bowl caliber players scattered all throughout it.

Here's my latest mock with explanations, as well as a highlight of a few more future Pro Bowl players that I see being drafted.

1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

No surprises here. Luck will be the quarterback of the future and have many Pro Bowl seasons.

2. Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

RGIII has the ability to be just as good as Luck and will be equally as important to the 'Skins.

3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT, USC

There are few things more important in football than a franchise left tackle, and that's what Kalil will be.

4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

Richardson is going to be a top-five back in the NFL for many years to come.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

Claiborne will be one of the NFL's true shutdown corners for many years.

6. St. Louis Rams: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

Blackmon fills a huge need for the Rams, and is a very explosive and reliable wideout.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina

This is one pick I've been going back and fourth on.

I love defensive end Nick Perry out of USC, but I'm not sure teams are willing to take him as high as I would.

Ingram is just as good if not better, and is a great pick here.

8. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

There are many reasons the Dolphins will regret this pick.

I don't like it, but I see it happening.

9. Carolina Panthers: Michael Brockers, DT

Brockers has the ability to be a Pro Bowl defensive tackle in the NFL. He's got great intangibles at 6'6'', 322 pounds and he's agile enough to be a force behind the line of scrimmage.

Brockers will be a defensive star for the Panthers.

10. Buffalo Bills: Riley Reiff, LT, Iowa

Reiff projects to be a starting tackle in the NFL for years to come.

11. Kansas City Chiefs: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State

At 6'4'' and 298 pounds, he's got great size, athleticism and will be a force on the defensive line.

I have no problem projecting one or two Pro Bowl seasons for Cox, if not more.

12. Seattle Seahawks: Nick Perry, DE, USC

Perry has good size, speed and athleticism and is an overall great pick.

13. Arizona Cardinals: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

Floyd is going to be very successful with Arizona and he will rack up a few Pro Bowl years.

14. Dallas Cowboys: Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis

A big, aggressive nose tackle that fits well in Dallas' system.

15. Philadelphia Eagles: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College

He's a linebacker with a nose for the ball, which is really needed in Philadelphia.

16. New York Jets: Courtney Upshaw, LB/DE Alabama

A versatile defensive end that can play with his hand on the ground or as a linebacker. He'll be a great addition to Rex Ryan's defense.

17. Cincinnati Bengals: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

I expect quite a few Pro Bowl seasons from Alshon Jeffery across from A.J. Green with the Bengals. He's got great size and the highest ceiling out of any of the receivers.

With Green drawing coverage off him and Andy Dalton throwing him the ball, Jeffery is going to be a stud.

18. San Diego Chargers: Cordy Glenn, OT/G, Georgia

A big, versatile lineman that can play either guard or tackle.

19. Chicago Bears: Mike Adams, LT, Ohio State

Adams fits the need for blindside protection and he has the intangibles to be a franchise player at left tackle.

20. Tennessee Titans: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

Gilmore has been jumping up draft boards lately, so the Titans are lucky to grab him here at No. 20 overall. He'll be a good replacement for Cortland Finnegan.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

Kirkpatrick is a big corner that can play physical with receivers. He'll be a welcomed addition to this defense.

22. Cleveland Browns: Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

Wright is a speedy wideout that will be a deep threat for Colt McCoy and the Browns offense.

23. Detroit Lions: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

Jenkins is a top-15 talent that fell because of character issues, but the Lions have a record of taking risks on the best player available. They have a desperate need at corner that he fits perfectly.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama

Hightower has the skills to develop into a Pro Bowl player, especially on this defense. He's big, physical and can get behind the line of scrimmage.

It will take a few years for him to be a big contributor, but eventually Hightower will be a star.

25. Denver Broncos: Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State

Very aggressive, tough and quick defensive tackle. He's good against the run and can pursuit the quarterback.

26. Houston Texans: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech

Hill is going to be a dangerous and speedy option lined up across from Andre Johnson.

27. New England Patriots (via Saints): Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois

Somehow, the Patriots are able to get the best out of players, and that's exactly what they will do with Mercilus. He's a great pass rusher and will play a big role getting after the quarterback in New England.

Mercilus will be a Pro Bowl player on this defense, eventually.

28. Green Bay Packers: Shea McClellin, DE/OLB, Boise State

McClellin fits nicely as a 3-4 outside linebacker and should thrive as a pass-rusher across from Clay Matthews.

29. Baltimore Ravens: Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

Sanu is a shifty and fast runner that will be a big addition to Baltimore's offense.

30. San Francisco 49ers: Jonathan Martin, LT, Stanford

Martin knows Jim Harbaugh and he fits a huge need. This pick makes a lot of sense to me.

31. New England Patriots: Rueben Randle, WR, LSU

Brandon Lloyd was a huge addition at receiver, but the Patriots could still use another deep threat.

32. New York Giants: Kevin Zeitler, G, Wisconsin

Somewhat underrated guard that fits a huge need here for the Giants.
