Kevin Durant Dunk Video: Watch Thunder Star's Monster Jam on Roy Hibbert
There's one thing everybody knows by now. When Kevin Durant drives to the hoop with a full head of steam, get out of his way or you will be embarrassed.
Unfortunately for Roy Hibbert of the Indiana Pacers, he never got the memo.
In the second quarter of Friday's game between the Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Thunder were losing, Durant was angry they were losing and Hibbert got in his way. That leads to getting posterized, and it's not a fun feeling.
Hibbert is, in fact, a good shot-blocker. He's averaged 1.9 blocks this season and he's 7'2", 275 lbs. But Durant is one of the most explosive scorers in the league, averaging 27.6 points, and most opponents are aware of this by now.
Hibbert was Durant's latest victim; it's that simple. There will be more victims along the way, and Durant and the Thunder are OK with that. It's part of the reason they are the front-runners in the Western Conference and picked by many to make it to the NBA Finals this season.
You have to give Hibbert credit for trying to block Durant, but he should have also known better. When a player like Durant has a clear path to the basket, there isn't really much you can do but get out of the way. If Durant had a poster for every man he's dunked on in his NBA career, he would be able to open up a full-scale museum for people to admire his works of art.
Lesson of the day for Roy Hibbert: No matter how big and strong you are, remember, Kevin Durant isn't like most basketball players.
