Dwyane Wade Injury: Latest Update on Heat Superstar's Knee Injury

Gabe ZaldivarApr 3, 2012

UPDATE: Wednesday, April 4th at 7:23 p.m. EDT

The Miami Heat will be at close to full strength for tonight's potential NBA Finals preview with the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to ESPN's Rachel Nichols, Dwyane Wade will be back in the lineup for the Heat after missing Tuesday's win over the 76ers with a knee injury:

"

Was just told Heat's Dwyane Wade will play tonight vs Thunder

That should come as music to LeBron James' ears, since he'll have someone to pass the ball to if/when the game gets tight in the fourth quarter.

We may have to wait just a tad longer for a fortuitous turn in the Miami Heat's season, as Dwyane Wade will reportedly be out of tonight's game with an apparent knee injury.

The South Florida SunSentinel's Ira Winderman reports via Twitter that Wade will indeed be out against the 76ers in Philadelphia Tuesday night:

"

Dwyane Wade (knee) out tonight.

Tim Reynolds, a writer for the Associated Press, has more information via Twitter:

"

Dwyane Wade bumped knees in the Boston game. Did shoot around today. Out tonight. Unsure on tomorrow.

— Tim Reynolds (@ByTimReynolds) April 3, 2012"

The Heat are currently struggling and have dropped three of their last five games, all three losses by double-digit margins.

Their most recent drubbing came at the hands of the Boston Celtics by a score of 91-72; Wade had 15 points in the loss. The Heat will certainly miss him against a hungry Philadelphia club that is sitting in the seventh seed and 19-10 at home.

The team will look to LeBron James, who is coming off a game in which he failed to procure an assist for just the second time in his career.

There is no word yet on how severe the injury is, or if it will demand more rest beyond Tuesday night's clash.

What is obvious is the fact that the Heat hardly needed another hit to the roster. Their recent rash of losses has seen the Chicago Bulls take a three-game hold of the first seed in the East.
