10 NBA Players Who Are First-Ballot HOFers Right Now

Brian MaziqueMar 27, 2012

Some of the players are obvious, but others will get some debate. Some of the debate has merit, other parts of it are based strictly on bias. I’m asking you guys to take off your team colors and put your true basketball fan glasses on. Recognize true greatness whether the player plays for your team, rubs you the wrong way or whatever the case may be.

In this video, you’ll see the players mentioned here are worthy of going into the Hall as soon as they are eligible.

Just for kicks, there are a few players also worthy of the Hall, but past precedence will keep them out in their first year of eligibility.

Vince Carter.

I know you’ll like that bum, but eliminate the fact that you know he could have been so much better than he was and is, and only consider what he did accomplish in his career.

He averaged 21 points per game for his career, he’s an eight-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection. If Dominique Wilkins is in, then Carter certainly deserves to be as well.

We can’t get hung up on potential unrealized. If that were a detriment, then Shaquille O’Neal shouldn’t be enshrined, either, and everyone knows that would be insane.

Carter is a Hall of Famer.

Chauncey Billups

Billups doesn’t have mind-blowing statistics, but he has a ring, an NBA Finals MVP, three All-NBA selections and five All-Star team nods.

Also, he’s a PG, and that position, because of its responsibility, has been more lenient on statistics as they relate to enshrinement (see: Bob Cousy).

CB4 deserves to be in the Hall, just not on the first ballot.

Check out the first-ballot guys in the video and, as usual, share your thoughts in the comments.
