LeBron James Injury: Updates on Heat Star's Finger Injury

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

The Miami Heat hardly need a hit to their star-studded roster right now, but that may be what happens as LeBron James deals with a recent injury to his finger.

Update: Thursday, March 29 at 2:55 p.m. EST

Man's game.

LeBron James will suit up and play through a dislocated finger in Thursday's home game against the Dallas Mavericks, via ESPN

"

I've still got work to do. I'll be ready. I hate using injuries as an excuse. If I'm in uniform, then I should be good to go. The only recovery for it, the doctors told me, was rest. And I think we all know I'm having none of that.

"

The injury is on his non-shooting hand and really should be a non-issue for a player of James' acumen. I am sure the fact that the defending champions are in town played a small part into his decision.

Michael Wallace of ESPN.com is reporting that LeBron James isn't going to miss any time due to a finger injury suffered during a loss to the Pacers on Monday night.

"

"I've still got work to do," James said after the Heat's practice in preparation for Thursday's home game against the Dallas Mavericks in a matchup of last season's NBA Finals. "I'll be ready. I hate using injuries as an excuse. If I'm in uniform, then I should be good to go. The only recovery for it, the doctors told me, was rest. And I think we all know I'm having none of that."

"

While it's admirable that James is toughing out this one, he needs to make sure nothing further gets damaged as the postseason draws nearer.

Anything less than winning a ring this season would be a huge disappointment for King James and the Miami Heat.

ESPN's Chris Broussard reports James injured the ring finger on his left hand during the first half of Monday's 105-90 loss to the Indiana Pacers:

"

The severity of the injury is not known at this point, but sources indicated the finger might be dislocated. The Heat did not practice Tuesday and had no comment on James' injury.

"

For the time being, there is no information on how severe the injury may be, or whether the All-Star will miss any time because of it.

After taping the finger, the Heat's star went on to play 41 minutes, scoring 24 points with nine rebounds while making 9-of-21 shots.

This is just one more piece of bad news for a team that is 8-6 since the All-Star break and suffered its second loss in as many games.

The Heat's next game is on Thursday when they take on the Dallas Mavericks at home.
