Daily Worst: Warriors Fans Keep It Classless, Kyrie Irving Gets Clowned and More

Kelly ScalettaMay 31, 2018

Welcome back to the Daily Worst, where everyday we review the previous days' worst plays. Other places will put the "best" in the limelight, but why should they get all the glory? Here we like to focus on the horrid and the horrible. Here are the worst form yesterday. As always, no players or teams were hated in the production of this article.

Worst High Five: Sometimes players take the high five for granted. Serious injury, even decapitation, can occur if the high five is not delivered properly. You would think that with his ability to hit a shot from anywhere on the floor, Dirk Nowitzki could hit the high five, but not so fast. See the video below for evidence.

Worst Posterizing: I don't know what Glen Davis was trying to do here. It didn't look like he was playing defense, it looked like he was pretending to play defense by flopping. No. That's not quite it either. It looked like he was pretending to flop. I mean normally when you say "that's a "bad flop" you mean that they flopped but weren't fouled. Manu Ginobili for all his flopping is a bad flopper, but he's good at flopping. This was just a horrible flop. It honestly looked like a "mock flop."

Worst Clowning: There are the elite point guards and there are the young point guards who want to become elite point guards. When the former faces the latter, they like to establish how far ahead they are on the ladder. Deron Williams absolutely clowned Kyrie Irving on this play. I think I can read Irving's mind on this play. He's thinking "What happened? Where did he go? He was here a second ago!"

Worst Humiliation: There were those last year who argued that Dwight Howard should have won the MVP over the Bulls' Derrick Rose because the Magic without Dwight Howard were a far worse team than the Bulls without Derrick Rose. Turns out that the Magic with Dwight Howard are a far worse team than the Bulls without Derrick Rose. I'm not sure how that works out with the MVP conversation.

Worst Booing: There's a time and place for everything. Corresponding with that, there's a time and place where everything is inappropriate as well, such as booing someone, anyone, during a jersey retirement. Look, I get you're unhappy about the trade, but Golden State fans, you went too far.

Daily Awards: Everyday we give out two awards. The Bakers Award goes to the player who makes the most turnovers, not of the apple or blueberry variety, but the basketball variety. Today's winner is (drum roll please!) Joe Johnson! Johnson, in leading his team to a come-from-ahead loss to the Boston Celtics committed seven turnovers! Way to go Joe!

The other award we give is the Upcucker Award, which goes to the player who chucks up so many shots with reckless abandon that it makes us want to upchcuk. Today's winner goes to Joe Johnson's teammate, Josh Smith! (now would be a good tie to remind you of the disclaimer).

Smith accomplished the extraordinary feat of going 5-of-20 from the field, but that just scratches the surface. Smith also failed to make it to the charity stripe even one time! He scored just 10 points on his 20 shots. I'm not Joshing!
