Los Angeles Lakers: an Incredible Come-from-Behind Win vs. New Orleans Hornets

Dan TalintyreJun 7, 2018

Rarely will wins against the New Orleans Hornets be described as incredible—especially when you're the championship-contending Los Angeles Lakers.

But after trailing on the road by 14 points at half-time, and 15 points mid-way through the third quarter, incredible is exactly what it is.

The Lakers did it the hard way—taking the Hornets to overtime before taking the win by six points.

Kobe Bryant proved again why he is one of the best in the National Basketball Association, finishing with 33 points and sparking the second-half revival.

Other notables for the Lakers included Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, who both chalked up double-doubles and proved the difference off the boards for Los Angeles.

Between the two of them, they had 43 points and an incredible 28 rebounds for the game.

Jarrett Jack was the star for the Hornets, and almost gave the home fans the delight of their lives with a surprise win over the Lakers.

However, despite his 30 points and 6 assists, it simply wasn't to be for New Orleans who shot 51.8% for the game and despite shooting several percentage points better than the Lakers, were unable to come away with the win.

The win takes the Lakers' win streak to four in a row, and consolidates their position at 27-16–third in the Western Conference.

For the Hornets, they slumped to their eighth loss in ten games and are a distant last in the Conference.

They have another shot at a win tomorrow night when the hapless Washington Wizards come to town.

The Lakers are at home to Minnesota on Friday.
