What Dwight Howard Learned from King James about Decision Making
In case you've been immune to sports or technology over the past two years, LeBron James had an hour-long television program in which he revealed what he would do upon becoming a free agent. "The Decision" forever lives on in infamy...
Thankfully, Dwight Howard learned from LeBron James' mistake.
According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Dwight Howard has informed several teammates and organization members that he will not opt out of his contract at season's end.
While LeBron James remains one of the most hated players in the NBA, Dwight Howard may have saved himself the glory of being one of the league's most popular. After the admirable declaration of his inhabiting intent, jersey sales might not be the reason.
In a day and age in which loyalty is lost, where Deron Williams, LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal have all left their respective franchises, Howard has defied contemporary wisdom. Rather than look for a superstar pairing, Howard has decided to stay in his career-long home and attempt to bring them an NBA Championship.
Unlike King James, who has continued to suffer from harsh criticism for his hometown departure, Howard has done what every fan has begged to see. He has displayed loyalty, class and most importantly, a belief in his organization. This is a man worth your basketball love.
Furthermore, Howard enabled the Orlando Magic to make a splash of their own in the trade market, as well as next year's free agency.
LeBron James may be the King of Miami, but Dwight Howard is the class of Florida.
