NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Stars Still on the Block Who Will Get Dwight Howard a Title

Bradlee RossJun 5, 2018

According to a report out of Orlando, Dwight Howard has told the Orlando Magic that he will opt in for the final year of his contract with them. Now, the Magic must find other stars to bring in to help Howard compete for a championship now.

There are lot of different ways the Magic's management could go, with some guys being more key to winning than others.

Here are five guys the Magic should try to get to pair with Howard.

Pau Gasol

1 of 5

This is a bit of a long shot, but it's definitely worth a try. The Lakers are looking to deal Gasol, but the Magic probably don't have the assets to him without dealing Howard himself.

Still, the Magic should try, especially if they can swing it by getting a third team involved. A tandem of Gasol and Howard in the frontcourt would vault the Magic to the top of the East.

Josh Smith

2 of 5

I know that the Atlanta Hawks owner said that Josh Smith was not on the trading block, but I'm not buying that completely.

Pairing Smith with Howard would make the Magic a championship contender immediately. Smith is versatile and athletic and can play out on the wing or in the post alongside Howard. He can score, rebound, dish and block shots, helping the Magic in many different ways.

Jamal Crawford

3 of 5

The Portland Trail Blazers are exploring deals that would ship out bench scorer Jamal Crawford to certain teams.

The Magic should be a team involved. Crawford would give the Magic a perimeter scorer off the bench, or possibly even to start, that could help take some of the offensive load off of Howard.

The two would fit well together, as Howard can play well without the ball in his hands.

Michael Beasley

4 of 5

Michael Beasley is another guy who could provide a spark as a starter or off the bench for the Orlando Magic.

Right now, he's averaging 11 points and nearly five rebounds per game coming off the bench for Minnesota. At 6'10", Beasley, much like Josh Smith, can play outside on the perimeter or inside alongside Dwight Howard.

He adds versatility and athleticism to a Magic team that needs it.

Ramon Sessions

5 of 5

Ramon Sessions is a hot trade target this season, and for good reason.

The young/veteran point guard is averaging 10 points and five assists off the bench for Cleveland. Sessions would be a big step up for Jameer Nelson, who has lost a step for the Magic.

Sessions would come relatively cheaply too and would allow the Magic to add other pieces as well.
